Ocean Firm

Norway is pioneering a powerful climate solution by creating large-scale ocean farms that grow seaweed. These underwater “forests” not only absorb CO₂ faster than trees but also clean the water and restore marine ecosystems.
Seaweed grows rapidly without fertilizers or freshwater, making it one of the most sustainable crops on the planet. Once harvested, it can be used for biofuels, animal feed, packaging, and even food, reducing pressure on land-based resources.
Research shows that seaweed absorbs more carbon per square meter than tropical forests, making it a key ally in the fight against climate change. At the same time, the farms create habitats for fish and marine life.
By farming the ocean, Norway is proving that the future of climate action may lie beneath the waves.
